James L. (Jimbo) Cotton joined McAllister & Associates Real Estate Services as a real estate broker in November of 1991, and is consistently a top-producer. During the past sixteen years of his brokerage career, he has come to specialize in commercial sales and leasing. Jimbo brokers all types of deals from large to small representing the buyer/tenant, the seller/landlord or both. His expertise includes the sale and leasing of all types of properties including office, retail, restaurant, industrial, warehouse and mini-warehouse.
Prior to joining McAllister & Associates, Jimbo was a partner in The Commercial Property Group (CPG) for five years. CPG was an independent group of commercial brokers specializing in fast food sites, apartments, retail, office, hotels and land sales.
Jimbo is a member of the Real Estate Council of Austin, the Austin Commercial Real Estate Society (served as 2006 president), Commercial Leasing Brokers Association (served as 1997 president), Central Texas Commercial Brokers, North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors, and the International Council of Shopping Centers. Jimbo was honored to be named one of Austin’s Top 25 Commercial Real Estate Heavy Hitters by Austin Business Journal in 2003. He also serves as Vice President of Assisting Texas with Housing, Inc., a non-profit organization committed to providing decent affordable housing to low and moderate income families as well as funding scholarships to needy students residing within those communities. Served on the Texas State Comptroller’s TexPool Investment Advisory Board, a local government investment pool serving over 1700 communities in the State of Texas, in 2006 and 2007. All of Jimbo’s affiliations bring him into contact with the local, state and national sales and leasing brokerage community.
Jimbo is a 50% partner in The Big Queso, Ltd. which owns a 24,000 square foot GattiLand “eater-tainment” Restaurant in Round Rock, Texas. Additionally, he currently manages approximately 225,000 square feet of commercial retail shopping centers and restaurant pad sites in and around Austin.
Jimbo attended Baylor University and played on the Golf Team. He graduated in 1984 with a B.B.A in Marketing and Management. He also holds a B.A from Western Texas College. He obtained his Real Estate Agents License in 1981 and his Real Estate Brokers License in 1984.
Jimbo in a life-long resident of Austin, Texas. He graduated from Round Rock High School in 1980 and makes his home in northwest Austin with his wife Jamie, son Austin, and daughter Bentley.
